The PT scoop

Hello there! It's been a while..I have been a little busy cleaning up some nasty messes around the house. Yes, messes...you know what I'm talking about!  After day 3 of PT I didn't have much to post about since miss Scarlet was doing so good. Each day was the same, so it would have been quite boring to report to you over and over again, what you already knew. Now, we have a different story. It's interesting and puzzling to say the least.

As you know, Scarlet was a champ for her first week of PT! And even her second week. Well, third week, that's an entirely different story. I'm not sure what happened, but she became "scared" to poop in the potty. As a result, she has been pooping in her panties. I'm not sure how long this will last. I am most positively ready for it to be over. No amount of bribing; offering candy, cookies, hugs, watching ipad, reading books, or anything else not mentioned is working. It's safe to say it's been pretty exhausting as of late. Cleaning up these messes is no fun.

What some horrendous messes we've had! I'll share one example (and if you have a weak stomach, don't continue reading this paragraph). I was in the bathroom getting ready for the day and Scarlet was in her room playing. I hear her say, "mommy I have to go poopy." I hurry in her room and almost start crying. I see poop literally everywhere. She had pooped on her rug, of course stomped around in it, and then proceeded to walk around every inch of her room. The smell alone was enough to make me throw up in my mouth. All I could do was tip toe around the tracks, grab up the poop monster, and set her in the tub. Of course she was happy as could be. I let her soak in the tub while I cleaned up her room...which took approximately 25 minutes, if not longer. This was last week and still each time I go in her room my mind automatically replays what I saw that day. It was absolutely horrifying. Just when you think you're at your wits end with the PT process, you get hit smack dab in the face and have to endure just a little bit more! Whew, thankful for the mercy and grace that God has shown me, so I can return that same grace to my daughter.

Even with these testing times, you better believe I still love my child through it. They are accidents and one day she will learn and we will look back and laugh at the messes we had to deal with. Has anyone experienced this setback with their child before? How long did it last? What did you do?  What did you do to try to get your child back on track?  Did you go to pull-ups until they were back on track? This didn't happen with Kierra at all so I'm just trying to take it day by day. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! If you have similar stories, feel free to share in the comments below. Or if you want to leave some encouraging words that's all good too! :-D

Until next time,

A mommy that's dealing with lots of poopy messes!
